Caterpillar Cocoon {FREE PATTERN}

Crochet Cocoon {FREE PATTERN} By Ramsileigh CrochetBy day, I am a preschool teacher! One of my favorite stories is The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle.  I was so excited when I got a special request for a newborn Very Hungry Caterpillar cocoon and hat!  I loved making one of my favorite books come to life! This pattern is for the cocoon only! Be on the lookout for another post on how to make the hat!

Crochet Cocoon {FREE PATTERN} By Ramsileigh CrochetMaterials:

  • worsted weight yarn (I used Hobby Lobby’s I Love This Yarn in Jelly Bean, Limelight, & Dark Olive)
  • size N hook
  • yarn needle

Abbreviations:

  • st: stitch
  • ch: chain
  • dc: double crochet
  • sc: single crochet
  • sl st: slip stitch

Notes:

  • This pattern is made by crocheting with 2 strands of yarn at the same time.
  • I am a tight crocheter.  If your stitches tend to be looser, I would consider going down a hook size!
  • When switching yarn colors, I simply drop the strand I was working with and pick up the new color and continue crocheting.  This should be a fairly simple switch since you’re working with two strands and keeping one consistent color throughout the project.
  • To make the bumps appear, crochet your single crochet rows tighter than you normally would and your double crochet rows looser than you normally would.  This will help make that effect more prominent!

RamsiLeigh Crochet in New York!

I had an opportunity to take a weekend trip to New York City! It was my first time in the city and it was a whirlwind of fun!  I traveled with my mom and some really close family friends. We were only there for three days so to make the most of the trip we walked until our feet were numb! I hope you enjoy some photos from our trip!  Maybe you can pick out the Ramsileigh Crochet items we wore throughout the weekend! Ramsileigh Crochet in NYC

When we arrived on Friday it was SNOWING!  We thought we were pretty lucky to see NYC in the snow for our first time visiting the city!

We were able to see Rockefeller Center, ride the wooden escalators in Macy’s, see the “big” piano in FAO Schwarz, window shop on Fifth Avenue, and ride the subway for the first time!

On Saturday morning the sun was shining!  We walked the streets close to our hotel and took everything in!

On Saturday afternoon we explored SoHo!  We ate at a little place called Lasso’s in Little Italy and it was delicious!  I highly recommend the tomato basil soup!

The #lovewall was close to the restaurant!  I love all the unexpected art you see when walking around New York. After lunch, we explored Chinatown and made our way to the 9-11 Memorial and then the Brooklyn Bridge!  Seeing the city lights from the bridge was breathtaking!

On Sunday, we attended a service at the Brooklyn Tabernacle and it was awesome!  That was one of my favorite experiences of the trip!

We were able to see Central park and Grand Central Station before catching a flight back home on Sunday night!

I loved our fast trip to New York!  It was neat to see places I’ve seen on TV and I felt like a real New Yorker when I saw a rat on the subway tracks!  Experiencing the big city is something I’ve wanted to do for a long time, but it was nice to come home to my small town in Arkansas!

We stayed warm in our Ramsileigh Crochet! Here are the patterns to make your own!
