Pixie Hat {FREE CROCHET PATTERN}

The Pixie Hat has been one of my best sellers for newborn photos!  It’s definitely a beginner crochet project and works up quick and easy!  If you’re searching for the perfect gift to whip up for the mom-to-be, this one would be a great option! To me, there’s nothing sweeter than a newborn in a crochet hat!

Notes:

  • I crochet very tight!  If your stitches tend to be looser, I would compensate for sizing down a hook!
  • For this tutorial, I made the pixie hat with stripes! You can make yours with stripes or as a solid color hat!  If you choose to make it a striped hat, I would just leave the yarn attached and bring it up every other row to avoid having to weave in a million ends!
  • This pattern is for a newborn size hat!  It’s very easy to pick up on the pattern of this hat!  If you continue increasing, you could easily make it to fit a larger head size!

Pom Pom:

I make my pom pom with this pom pom maker:

Using a pom pom maker has saved me HOURS on my crochet projects! I love adding pom poms to my designs and this allows me to whip one up in a snap!  Before my pom pom maker I would actually avoid projects with pom poms because I knew making one would take precious time away from my crochet designs.  I HIGHLY recommend investing in one of these!

If you don’t have one DON’T WORRY! I did a tutorial on how to make one using cardboard! You can find it by clicking HERE!

Thanks for stopping by for the Pixie Hat pattern!  You have permission to sell finished products from this pattern. I do ask that you give Ramsileigh Crochet the credit for the pattern.  Please do not copy this pattern and post it as your own.

Fall will be here before we know it!  Summer is definitely my favorite season but fall is a close second.  After a hot southern summer, autumn is usually welcomed with open arms! The past couple of falls, the candy corn hat has been very popular!  I FINALLY sat down and wrote a pattern to share!  This is an easy pattern and looks absolutely ADORABLE on a little fall baby!

Caterpillar Cocoon {FREE PATTERN}

Crochet Cocoon {FREE PATTERN} By Ramsileigh CrochetBy day, I am a preschool teacher! One of my favorite stories is The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle.  I was so excited when I got a special request for a newborn Very Hungry Caterpillar cocoon and hat!  I loved making one of my favorite books come to life! This pattern is for the cocoon only! Be on the lookout for another post on how to make the hat!

Crochet Cocoon {FREE PATTERN} By Ramsileigh CrochetMaterials:

  • worsted weight yarn (I used Hobby Lobby’s I Love This Yarn in Jelly Bean, Limelight, & Dark Olive)
  • size N hook
  • yarn needle

Abbreviations:

  • st: stitch
  • ch: chain
  • dc: double crochet
  • sc: single crochet
  • sl st: slip stitch

Notes:

  • This pattern is made by crocheting with 2 strands of yarn at the same time.
  • I am a tight crocheter.  If your stitches tend to be looser, I would consider going down a hook size!
  • When switching yarn colors, I simply drop the strand I was working with and pick up the new color and continue crocheting.  This should be a fairly simple switch since you’re working with two strands and keeping one consistent color throughout the project.
  • To make the bumps appear, crochet your single crochet rows tighter than you normally would and your double crochet rows looser than you normally would.  This will help make that effect more prominent!
